Reactionary Marketing & a Neat little story…

About two weeks ago on one of my autoblogs with very little traffic I noticed something interesting…out of the 20 people that arrived there that day, 5 of them were for the same page…the rest were all longtails. I checked it out, and it was a news report about Cityville being released.

Thinking to myself…gee…I’ve heard of petville, and I know how popular it can be. Well…I started by grabbing a bunch of petville keywords off of scrapebox, and changing them to cityville instead. I then dumped those into a wprobot campaign on the blog, and forgot about it.

The next evening I noticed that my little blog that was getting 20 uniques a day, had just jumped up to nearly 400 uniques! Diving into the stats, it was immediately clear that this was ALL cityville traffic. I don’t even have a cityville domain here…and it’s pulling in traffic like mad.

A few days later I got the chance to play with a really neat tool developed by Hudson at wpblackhat. It is called WordPress Traffic Tools. As I was setting up cookie profiles on another one of my domains…I noticed the redirection profiles. The redirection profiles allow you to redirect non-spider search traffic to other URLS depending on either a keyword in the post, or the postid…or both.

I slapped it up on my autoblog that just started receiving cityville traffic, and pointed a redirection profile towards a clickbank cityville cash guide offer. Using the keyword ‘cityville’….so human traffic gets 302'd to the offer landing page if they try and view any of my posts that contain the word ‘cityville’.

This was three days ago…and I’ve seen a single $17 conversion every day since then.

I have more lucrative projects out there certainly…but I found this very heartening that my reactionary marketing paid out. After I saw this, I went out and did some real keyword research with Market Samurai, and ended up purchasing several domains to setup as niche autoblogs.

After seeing this work with WP Traffic Tools…I have been thinking about building more ‘conglomeration’ type autoblogs…if nothing else they DO provide you with true fresh information, that is something you can’t get from somebody else. It’s a very simple and effective trick for distilling different markets out of your autoblogs. I’m going to be playing with this more this week. It also has some useful bits under the Link & Cookie sections.

I've been using this plugin for over a year now. It's consistently made me money. It was really valuable this last Christmas holiday season. I added it to quite a few older sites that I just didn't have time to really work on - tweaked a few settings and processes - and made more money on those sites during just the Christmas season than those sites had earned in the prior three years.

WPTT has definitely helped me monetize my traffic easier than I thought was possible. I was always on the fence about buying it, I had my eye on it for a while but there wasn't much hype or many write ups about the product.

I decided to go ahead and buy it anyway and let me tell you it is the best plugin I have bought for WordPress, It has a wealth of features that anybody in the affiliate game "Must Have".

If you use Amazon then you can easily split the traffic between your UK/US affiliate links depending on where the traffic comes from - This is just one feature.. need i say more. - JDizzle

I used WP Link Engine as well before and when I first bought WPTT, geo-targeting was something that I found was missing from WPTT. BUT soon after Hudson added that feature so all of you CPA promoter may like it.

The power of WPTT lies in the ability to set up rules (redirection, ads, etc) based on multiple variables such as keyword in the page, in the URL, etc and the latest I think it supports regex. - ntotal

I bought wptt about a month ago, it does do all that it promises, and i know they the creator is very active in keeping it updated and hanging out in his forum to help people out. - xoskillet

The redirection profiles [module] could work for the "poor man's cloaking" method instead of the other far more expensive bumblesoft one. You can redirect all traffic, or by incoming kw. So say you had 1000 kw posts with "facebook" as part of the kw, then all incoming traffic with "facebook" in the referring url would get redirected. Pretty awesome really.

Oh... and if you use autoblogs... either directly (most here don't) or indirectly (let's say for point farming for the SSES Link Exchange)... then you could occasionally sign into them and see if you're getting any traffic related to a product, and then setup a redirect profile by kw, and 302 them to an offer. A way to squeeze some money out of those kinds of blogs (other then CSing Amazon or something of course). You can CS with the plugin too. -poopinagroup

Hey Hudson, thanks for the great plugin. I’ve got to say my two favorite features are:

1) Link cloaking. I have a few sites that require a lot of different affiliate links, and this feature makes it so easy to add or change “pretty links” quickly and easily. 2) The ability to use tokens in the Ad Management feature, which allow me to create dynamic ads.

Also, I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t mention how much I love the overall flexibility that’s built into WP Traffic Tools. The ability to use global settings but make exceptions on a post-by-post basis, makes this one of the most user friendly plugins I own. Awesome work! ~Dax Dax Deegan

I’ve been playing with this WP Traffic Tools plugin – and I’ve got to say… It’s a plugin that does so many things – so well.. I’ve never paid this little for a plugin that does so much (regarding the price of the plugin I mean) – this is just a must buy. I bought this plugin when I first joined wpbh and I can honestly say it is one of my top 3 most reliable plugins i've ever bought. Hudson does an amazing job in keeping this thing updated with pretty much every and any new feature you can think of (and tell him, of course, he's not a mind reader - but close ).

Grab this plugin for all your cloaking/redirecting/everything else needs. For the price, I feel like I stole it. -Junie

I have been using this for a month or so and gotta say I love it. I have all the modules but have only been using a few (all whitehat ahem). Anyway - everything is pretty intuitive and developer was very responsive to my questions I had when I did my first intstall. So far everything has worked great and I need to get up to speed on the rest of the plug-in capabilites. - sammyd

WP traffic tools is one of the BEST plugins you will come across. It is much better than plugins like cloakpig (or cloak.fm) and alike. There are so many features packed into this plugin that you wouldn't even have imagined.

Hudson is responsive as well, has updated the plugin numerous times and listens to user feedback. If you have a feature request - just tell him. Being a full time programmer doesn't mean you cannot listen to your customers and answer them personally. Great support and great plugin. In the past month there were a lot of pretty useful features added and normally this plugin sells for way more than any warrior is paying.

I cannot recommend the plugin highly enough.

Let me just say one more thing: i do not get any benefit for telling you this, it is just my honest opinion. I am not affiliated with Hudson, i don't gain anything other than a 'thank you' underneath this post. I have my own set of plugins to do most everything I need, but I am buying Hudson's package anyway.

He has some things I do not.

If you are an advanced blogger, this is a perfect suite for you.

If you are a noob, there is a learning curve to everything he has going here, even though it not insurmountable with enough practice AND TIME INVESTMENT IN YOUR BUSINESS.

And at this price, it's a stupid no brainer, even if you have to let it set on your hard drive till you are ready use it later, when you have more time. -Roger Rowe

Well what can I say You would be a mug not to buy this WSO at this price - I paid close to the full going price for this plugin (x3 on this WSO price) as the features were ridiculously powerful and all in one package.

It works well and the developer keeps improving it @ no cost to me. (no fees, no upgrade costs) Free

If you drop him an email he gets back quickly and you get intelligent answers that fully answer the question (Rare).

He has another plugin BlogSenseWP - Content Automation Platform for WordPress and it is fantastic too, I bought this one as well once I realised what it could do. I also researched Hudson support and looked back through the warrior posts noting how he kept updating the software and posting regular updates here on the WF. Just check out the support on this post 2 years+ of posts and upgrades - for the one time fee??? - no brainer

Now I don't know about the rest of you - but I am sick of buying stuff that stops working after a few months, with sellers that have more AKA's than international art thieves, so I decided to buy the WP Traffic Tools plugin first and on the back of its stellar performance, I purchased Blogsense WP after that - I haven't looked back.

The best money I have spent on wordpress in a long time.

I use Hudsons products and I love them! I just grabbed WP Traffic Tools... It does EVERYTHING I wanted to do and honestly, more than I will probably ever need lol! Great to see you turning it into a WSO!!

I can vouch for Hudson's online integrity. His products and customer service are top notch. If you have any issues with his products he's always on top of things making sure any issues are resolved asap.

I've used his other product, blogsensewp, and it's one of the most powerful plugins out there for not just autoblogging but blog management.
