Redirect traffic by keywords in referral. (By Google Search)

Redirect  Traffic  Conditionally

Create  ‘Redirection Profiles’ within WP Traffic Tools. Redirect traffic to different locations based on certain conditions such as  keyword(s) discovered in the referring URL.

Most people will use this to detect keyword-specific traffic arriving from search engines and redirect them to someplace specific, but we can also use this to redirect traffic arriving from specific domains.

Example of a Referrer URL

http://www.google.com/search?q=blogsense-wp+&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

You can see that the keywords “blogsense-wp” can be found in the URL string above. If there is a profile setup that contains the keywords “blogsense wp,blogsensewp, blogsense” then WP Traffic Tools will detect the keyword “blogsense” in the referring url and transfer the visitor to the new URL.

Other Features include:

  • Redirect profiles can be setup globally, affecting all posts, or can be set up specifically, just on certain posts, or solely on the homepage.
  • Non-human visitors can be excluded from all redirects.
  • Referrer can be blanked on all redirects.
  • Can declare 301, 302, 303 redirection types.
  • Redirects are counted per/profile for information gathering.

    Hi

I want to use the keyword that a browser finds my site with to search for and auto-open another blog post on my site.
    Can you help?

    Nicole

  2. admin says:

    Hi Nicole,

Yes WPTT can take care of this just by adding in your keywords, and then setting the redirect url. If a user search contains those keywords then it will redirect them to your preferred blog post.

  3. Hi
An ideal addon would be a flexible exit feature. Wp Lapdance seems to have the right exit options.
What do you think. It would be great if you could do it and save me $20 :-)

  4. Daniel says:

Are the redirects case insensitive so domain.com/link is the same as domain.com/LINK

  5. admin says:

I just looked it up and the keyword searches are case insensitive.

  6. John says:

Hi, is it cloacking technology? For instant, surfer searches google with some keyword and then comes to our site with this keyword referens he can be redirected to the domain we chose in redirect settings?

  7. admin says:

    Hey John,

Yes we do offer cloaking technologies with our redirection module (as per Google’s definition of cloaking, we have the option treat spiders differently than human visitors).

  9. Jesse says:

So I have to setup a different redirect profile for each post id I want to redirect?

I am trying to get my site to redirect all human visitors only, from ALL URLs to its matching URL on a different domain

i.e. anything after “domain1.com/”… would get redirected to “domain2.com/whatever-came-after-the-trailing-slash-from-domain1″

whats the easiest way to do this with WPTT?

  10. Nikola says:

Is it possible to blank the referrer in Chrome ?

  11. admin says:

I don’t think so, but WPTT detects for failed blanks and prevents redirects when the referrer is still intact.

  12. Jesse says:

Is it possible to redirect (or exclude-from-redirect) based on the Operating System of the visitor?

For example, I would like to redirect all traffic EXCEPT those using a Linux operating system.

    Can WPTT do this?
